There are irksome aspects to the DVD . . . patched together with sometimes uneven visual quality; short segments where interposed publicity stills provided the least-worst substitute for lost footage . . . the vaunted lamasery looks like a…

The film follows the story of a group of people who are stranded in the Himalayan Mountains and stumble upon a mysterious, utopian community called Shangri-La. The film is beautifully shot, with stunning landscapes and excellent use of…

The story of Shangri-La. A mysterious fantasy adventure that begins with a hijacked plane crash. This is an entertaining movie inspite of several scenes being recreated with still shots due to missing footage and 25 years of restoration…

James Hilton's novel "Lost Horizon" introduced the idea of Shagri-La, which is now a synonym for a utopia or any idyllic place. Frank Capra filmed the novel about a group of people fleeing war-tron China in a plane. When the plane goes…

1937. B & W film from the late 1930's style of film making... Adventure-fantasy style. Hollywood "back-lot" sound stage movie. It was OK but I am used to seeing quality movies with tight story lines, good acting, etc. The 2 comic…

Extravagant, fascinating rendering of the mythic Shangri-La makes for an enjoyable adaptation of the James Hilton novel, with good performances all around. John Howard (The Philadelphia Story) is quite good here.

Capra's masterpiece, a welcome change from his usual feel-good Americana. Ronald Colman is the only actor for the role of Conway, and Jane Wyatt is cuter than anything. The supporting parts are expertly handled, and Capra has somehow…

A wonderful and mysterious journey, with some problems in the ending. There has to be a reason for leaving Shangri la, but the actual reason doesn't really make sense. Another thing I take issue with is the brother of the main character.…

I don't know how many times I have seen Lost Horizon in my lifetime, It is every pesons dream of how the world should be and not how it is. For a few moments we can enjoy our dream.

Hated it. I could not wait for it to be over! The overacting brother; the shrieking blond woman; the weasel paleontologist - I wanted to scream. And then the main crux of the plot - 2 hours to get the protagonist to agree to stay to be…

A masterpiece of film making by Director Frank Capra. Ronald Colman is superb as a British Diplomat who falls in love with Jane Wyman after his plane crashes in the Himalayas. I won't ruin the story for you, it is too good for that. …

Frank Capra’s classic tale of a snowbound Utopia may seem a bit trite by today’s cynical standards yet it’s vision of a kinder, gentler society should make us all the more fed up with the status quo. Released just as WWII was gathering on…

We would not be so lucky to have a copy of Director Frank Capra's "Lost Horizon" if UCLA film school had not restored the only copy they could find. The school could not find a complete movie, so they have a short part of the film that…

This is an interesting movie by Frank Capra, some of the footage is missing but it is as close to the original version as you'll get. It is somewhat bizarre, but also beautiful, and there is an element of mystery, too.

A warm and wondrous 75 year old adventure from Frank Capra. Loved it. H.B. Warner was excellent as the sagely contented Chang. Sam Jaffe was a hoot (with those crazy eyes) as the 200 year old High Lama. I also got a kick out of Thomas…
