This book is much, much better than the movie. It is not full of black and white people and situations. This book was actually banned in Communist Poland because it cast a German soldier in a humane light. It was not until the fall of Communism in Poland that it was re-released. In my view it is the best book I have read on life during the German occupation of Warsaw.

This book is very touching!!!!!!!! I've read this book for a novel study project, and if i had a chance to choose a different book, I wouldn't.......This book is definetly on my top 10 books. The Pianist describes the holocaust in such a vivid description!!!!!!! I REALLY RECCOMEND THIS FOR EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! A MUST READ! :)
