As an avid reader of children books from the time I was a kid to even now as a young adult, The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a well-deserved classic and an amazing story.  Author Eric Carle’s simple and amusing plot takes you along the journey as the caterpillar blossoms into a beautiful butterfly. This is the perfect book for young children learning or teenagers in a nostalgic mood.  I really do think The Very Hungry Caterpillar is beautifully illustrated, written, and a great read regardless of your age. 3.7 out of 5.

I picked up this book for some of my students! They really loved it as much as I did as a child! This book is great for teaching about caterpillars and butterflies, numbers, and foods. The kids love the different length pages and the holes! Really fun!

My two year old adores this book. We get him to identify all the foods the very hungry caterpillar eats on Saturday, and he always beats us to exclaiming that it turns into "a beautiful butterfly!"

This classic still holds up!

I love the caterpillar because it eats a lot and turns into a butterfly. ~Lilian, age 3

This book shows the life cycle of the caterpillar from egg to butterfly. It also teaches numbers and counting with all of the foods that the caterpillar eats in the middle of the story.

The journey of life so cleverly use in the metamorphoses process a caterpillar takes. Great color Illustrations. I know this is a story I remember from reading to my children now 40 years later I am reading it to my granddaughter and she just loved it with all kind of question and a nature walk to go with it.

“On Saturday, he ate through one piece of chocolate cake, one ice-cream cone, one pickle, one slice of Swiss cheese, one slice of salami, one lollipop, one piece of cherry pie, one sausage, one cupcake, and one slice of watermelon.

That night he had a stomach ache.”
