This series is amazing. Even though it can be predictable at times, the protagonists are awesome and the book is super interesting! Also I think Uncle Monty was a great uncle for the children.

And the Baudelaires’ misery continues in this sequel to ‘The Bad Beginning.’ This is a good sequel—good meaning “well-written with an interesting plot” not “happy,” as nothing that happens to the Baudelaire orphans, aside from the brief respite with Uncle Monty, could be called happy.

The story is grim, fascinating, and ends with intrigue. The characters are just as wonderful to be with, besides Olaf of course. The unique voice with which Lemony Snicket has written this series is just as consistent, and I highly enjoy it.

If you enjoy grim tales of miserable orphans, this is a grand continuation of the sad tales. I don’t know why you would want to relive the lives of these poor children, but that is that.

I love this series. This book was one of the best because they actually got a good guardian who cared about them. It was really sad later on in the book (be prepared!) but I fell in love with the characters. Sometimes these books can be confusing, but the storyline comes together. Lemony really makes you think about what you would do in those situations and he really makes you feel like you are actually there! <3 Love this book!

Another good, but sadly unfortunate addition to the series. It's so weird to read this book and see all the scenes from the film adaptations running through my head, but I love it. I'm truly excited to read the next book, even if I know how it ends.

I enjoyed this book because it made me want to keep reading. My favourite part if this book was when violet realized how count Olaf had killed Monty and shared it with mr. Poe and the others. I enjoyed this part because it had lots of detail and was easy to understand. Overall, I have no negitave feedback about this book.

My mom and I read this book together. We like that some of the characters, like Count Olaf, show up again and again. This book was exciting and kept us reading to find out what would happen next. This series is different than others because sometimes the good guys don't win. We like how each orphan has a different hobby and we also like how hard they try to solve the problems they encounter.

Because I have a great fear of snakes, this was even more creepy to me. The thought of Sunny playing with that viper gave me the heebie jeebies. I also was quite fond of Uncle Monty and so sorry that his kindness to the Baudelaire orphans was repaid with treachery by Count Olaf in disguise. The vocabulary explanations, especially the phrase "back at the ranch" do not disappoint. This book is both creepy and humorous at the same time and I am hooked on this series. When oh when will the orphans finally be free from the plots of Count Olaf?!

Lots of action in the second one! This one is very sad at the end thought but still good! I loved all the mysteries of the book! This time the orphans went to a nicer guardian and were having a great time......until count Olaf shows up again!

I love how there's always a cliff hanger at the end of each book!

Violet, Klaus and Sunny begin living with their Uncle, Dr. Montgomery Montgomery, who is a snake scientist. Uncle Monty, as they call him is a very nice man, giving them comfortable living arrangements and jobs they love to do, as they prepare for a trip to Peru.
Uncle Monty's assistant sudenly quits so a new assistant, Stefano is hired. Stefano is actually Count Olaf in disguise.
Count Olaf threatens the children with a knife to keep their mouth shut. Eventually he kills Uncle Monty, and plans to take the children with him to Peru. On the car ride, they get into a car accident with Mr.Poe.
They head back to the Montgomery estate after Mr.Poe learns of Montgomery's death.
A doctor which is the hook-handed man in disguise comes to examine Dr.Montgomery and claims that the cause of death was a bite from a deadly snake.
Violet and Klaus try to find out the real cause of death. Violet goes snooping into Olaf's suitcase and room and finds evidence that Olaf injected venom into Dr. Montgomery. Klaus reads a book and finds that death by the deadly snake always results in victims that turn blue by the constriction. Dr.Montgomery died with a very pale face.
Finally Mr. Poe believes the children but before the police arrive Olaf and his assistant take off.
