Mr. Peanuts is an unusual squirrel. He likes to grill hot dogs on his tiny grill. He plays the piano beautifully. He likes to read (his favourite books are A Tail of Two Cities and Good Night, Nut ). But once in a while he feels lonely. One day, he writes a letter to Cousin Squirrel to invite him to visit, and to his great joy, Cousin Squirrel agrees! It turns out that Cousin Squirrel is an unusual squirrel, too, and Mr. Peanuts realizes that having a friend makes everything twice as fun.

A fun, cute book in a series of fun, cute books. If you love squirrels, you'll love it. I did.

What a heartwarming story. Everybody should read it - young and old. It's what life is all about.

These books (there is a Christmas one) are chock full of squirrel humor.
Squirrel humor was first introduced to me by my older cousins, and can be a real crowd pleaser. I've read this in storytime and gotten a lot of laughs, mostly because the book keeps making me laugh and the moms laugh and then the kids copy us.
The author, Nancy Rose, sets up these elaborate little sets and takes these pictures of candid, wild squirrels by hiding peanuts around. Mr. Peanuts and his cousin, Cousin Squirrel, seem to love it!

Everyone in the family enjoyed this one. The 4yo son, the 7yo daugter and me "the adult". I particularly enjoyed the information on how the photos were created. The photos inspired my kids to create their own dioramas for Mr. Peanuts and friends.

Cute and nice pictures. Have to wonder just how much patience it took to get some of those pictures !

This is a fantasy story about how squirrels spend their days. They are really quite busy creatures. They like to cook, read, and play the piano. They also like to have guests over to play. This squirrel, Mr. Peanuts, sends a letter to his cousin inviting him to come visit. They have a delightful time together and Mr. peanuts realizes that, "Having a friend makes everything twice as fun."

The pages are illustrated with photographs of squirrels and props created by the author.

Although the wording of this story is a little weak and doesn't flow as smoothly as it could, I was fascinated with each and every photograph. I spent extra time looking at the props Nancy Rose created and even though I do not enjoy rodent animals, I was entranced by these little squirrels and their actions. As a photographer myself, I can appreciate the enormous amount of time and patience it takes to get even one good picture of animals in the wild let alone alongside of props. Ms. Rose offers a couple of pages at the back of the book that give advice on photography and tells how she went about accomplishing these amazing photos.

This book is recommended for ages 3-6. I think that can be bumped up to age 8 as the older children will be fascinated with the photos. I highly recommend this book. It encourages imagination, curiosity, and creativity.

Wildlife Photographer Nancy Rose shares the secret life of squirrels in this fun photo album. Mr. Peanuts lives in an adorable little house full of dollhouse-sized furniture and crafted objects. One day, he decides to invite his cousin over, and so he sets forth to clean the house, including doing the laundry. Once together, the two have a great day out doing all sorts of friendly activities. What little plot there is, is quite generic, with each page reading more like a caption to a photo. While the back includes a Q and A and some tips on doing wildlife photography, it is the pictures, mini objects, and creative boarders which makes us pick up this book.

This is a cute, and weirdly entertaining, picture book for lovers of the common squirrel ;)
