This handbook explains the application of the most commonly used guidelines of RDA (Resource Description and Access) for descriptions of entities and resources and the creation of access points by library catalogers and students. It assumes that most catalogers will continue to use the MARC (Machine-Readable Cataloging) formats and follow ISBD (International Standard Bibliographic Description) structures, and includes changes related to new and revised MARC provisions. Incorporating full cataloging examples for each, it delineates the guidelines for describing manifestations and items, persons, families, corporate bodies, geographic entities, works, and expressions, and recording relationships.
