A cute redo of Anne of Green Gables. While it holds somewhat close to the story, there are certainly some differences that might aggravate an avid fan. The actress that plays Anne (Ella Ballentine) is wonderful and charismatic, while Martin Sheen's portrayal of Matthew and Sara Botsford's portrayal of Marilla are pretty spot-on. A light, quietly paced, and enjoyable movie to watch for all ages!

I actually enjoyed watching this remake of the original story. I understand the frustration of some of the reviewers, but I guess, if you love the story, you would appreciate any remake of it. And that's exactly how I felt. I still felt nostalgic. The original actors are still the best, but Martin Sheen's Matthew Cuthbert is still loveable. This remake is a breath of fresh air to me. Go and watch it if you still love Anne of Green Gables.

This presentation is for you if you would like to intentionally cause yourself to cringe. If you find delight in wasteful productions, and sorry dramatic attempts.

Oh so very wrong on so many levels. Wrrrroooonnnnngggg!
1) When a classic movie is made such as the 1985 version of Anne of Green Gables starring Megan Fellows, Colleen Dewhurst and Richard Farnsworth, PLEASE do not attempt to make another. Some things simply should not be remade. This is one.
2) The cast members were promising but really did not portray the characters in the book adequately at all. They were at best a vastly watered down version so far from the orginal book (and even 1985 movie) that L.M. Montgomery herself would have cried. And please! What is up with Anne's freckles? Were they written on with a pen? They even seemed to move around from scene to scene or even disappear! Even her red hair was totally fake and obviously so. Diana and Gilbert? Not even close!! Oh so very disappointing.
3) The plot line was so changed and skewed with major events in the book skimmed over or completely left out. Wrong wrong wrong. That's really a travesty and an insult to the author.
4) If you loved the book, don't watch this. If you loved the 1985 movie, don't watch this. Some lovely scenery besides, this was a very disappointing 85 minutes that quite frankly left me feeling depressed!

My daughters and I looked forward to seeing this. We were disappointed, overall. The setting was beautiful, and we loved that they used an authentic historic house, but the pacing was all wrong. There was no tension at the dramatic scenes, and the acting was just blase. Most of the key escapades that Anne Shirley is famous for were watered down or even missing.

A decent remake of the 1985 classic.

Beautiful scenery, but too many minor plot changes, particularly in characters' personalities, to allow this Canadian to appreciate it.

Definitely not as good as the original movie, but still not bad and worth seeing. Many parts from the original have been cut out, probably due to length and it does take some time to get used to new actors playing the parts of the characters that everyone knew and loved.
