Paul Shore's year spent accidentally living in Saint-Paul de Vence, where Marc Chagall painted may of his great works, included a breakthrough in a foreign culture while travelling. Oddly, it came through the difficult to understand game of petanque and the quirky townsfold who eventually embraced him, and Paul's effort to deeply absorb the value of tradition.
