The Golden Bowl is an intense, involved study of marriage, adultery and family ties. The central characters are a man and his daughter and James delves into their consciousness to explore the complexity of their relationship to each other and their respective spouses. The novel is often considered the completion of the "major phase" of James' career.

This book is beautifully written, but by the time I was finished with it, I had to wonder why Henry James had spent so much effort on such a meager story and such uninteresting characters. I've read many of James' novels, and this was the least satisfying of those I have read.

Did you actually read the book or did you just type this in for a joke? Please explain why the plot was boring based on the material in the book. Proove to us that you actually read the book.
