Focusing on applications, rather than on the nuts and bolts of the technology, scientists describe methodologies for getting data from remote sources, primarily in biomedical and environmental sciences and practices. Their topics include radio-telemetric EEG recordings in small rodents as an analytical tool in basic neurological research, biotelemetry research on upstream migration behavior of adult chum and pink salmon in a re-meandered segment of Japan's Shibetsu River, audible-wave telemetry with a computer sound card for remote analysis applications, and the telemetry of body temperature for long-term recording of breathing.
