Bin-Kapela, a philosophy teacher in Catholic institutions of higher learning, interrogates and debunks the myth that African culture and thought are irrational and immoral. He considers African culture as a set of hermeneutical tools for stimulating intellectual reflection. To this end, he reviews the ontology, ethics, and spirituality of Bantu people in terms of African history, colonialism, and political struggle. He argues that the Bantu and European mind are both the same with one caveat: the latter is explicitly systematic while the former is to be found in their living cultural forms.
