Essays revisiting themes the Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist, poet, essayist, and activist has addressed throughout her career, exploring her conflicting impulses to retreat into inner contemplation and to remain deeply engaged with the world: racism, Africa, solidarity with the Palestinian people, the presidential campaign of Barack Obama, Cuba, health care, and the work of Aung San Suu Kyi.

Rampant, deplorable Anti-semitism from a woman scorned by a Jewish ex husband. Alice is ill informed, and disgusting on every level.

Having read a few of Alice Walker's books over the years, since The Colour Purple came out, I was interested in this as it is a collection of her writings, some poetry, opinions and commentaries. It is beautifully written and her prose is so lyrical and so absorbing that it is sheer literary pleasure to read. From meditation to the election of Obama to war to democracy and human rights it covers a vast range of topics. A great fascinating read that you can dive into again and again.
