The conviction and eventual execution of Nicola Sacco and Bartolommeo Vanzetti, two Italian immigrants in the United States, drew worldwide protests. Many viewed the pair's anarchist views and status as immigrants as chiefly contributing to their being convicted of killing two men, which took place during the height of the Red Scare.
