In August 1918 two suspected members of the Social Revolutionary Party shot Vladimir Lenin in an attempted assassination. The ruthless 1917 Bolshevik Revolution resulted in Lenin's dictatorial rule over the USSR; no tolerance was given to opposition, and Social Revolutionaries were mass-murdered.
