In 1917, following Germany's repeated violations of the United States' pledged neutrality, the United States formally entered World War I. In this animation, designed to represent the U.S. goal of bringing about a swift end to the conflict, an increasingly frightened-looking Kaiser watches as the sky gradually forms a stars-and-stripes pattern and a U.S. missile strikes his balcony.
