Czar Nicholas II and the Russian Royal Family Join Military Procession Ca. 1913Unknown - 1913
When World War I threatened Russian borders, Czar Nicholas II left St. Petersburg to command his troops. He left control of the state to his wife Alexandra and her spiritual leader, Rasputin. The move further damaged the czar's already unstable rule, and the royal family was ultimately executed during the Bolshevik Revolution.
