While in office, President Ronald Reagan advocated a supply-side economics policy that came to be known as Reaganomics. This theory held that large tax cuts for the wealthy would trickle down to middle income and working class Americans because of increased consumer spending. While taxes were cut across all financial classes in the 1980s, many working class families argued that they faced too heavy of a tax burden.
