Joseph McCarthy Appears at Army-McCarthy Hearings Ca. 1954

Unknown - 1950
Rate this:
Senator Joseph McCarthy, a Republican from Wisconsin, began a series of investigations into alleged communist sympathies among members of the U.S. Army in 1954. These hearings quickly turned into a probe of McCarthy's attempts to gain favorable treatment for an assistant who was drafted into military service, however. These hearings helped inspire a backlash against the senator and his policy of aggressive investigations known as McCarthyism.
