Soviet Ships Withdraw Missiles From Cuba During the Cuban Missile Crisis Ca. 1962Unknown - 1962
In response to the installation of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba, the United States began a naval blockade of the island in October 1962. The blockade - called a quarantine - was aimed at preventing any additional Soviet weapons from reaching the island.
