<span>The<i> Book of Mormon</i>, the text upon which the Mormon faith is based, was said to have been&nbsp;revealed to founder Joseph Smith by the angel Moroni over a period of several years. The book was translated by Smith from a series of&nbsp;golden plates he found buried in a hillside. Smith claimed that the golden plates were found alongside a pair of spectacle-like glasses, through which he was able to translate the text and thus compile the famous text.</span>
