To escape from bad memories and nightmares in London, Dido goes to stay with a childhood friend, Lizzy Waring. Lizzy lives in a picture postcard village in Somerset with her husband and his family. The Warings own Monksdanes, an idyllic Georgian mansion; it appears the perfect place for an over-active London native to rest and recuperate.
At first Dido is enchanted by the surroundings, but she quickly realises the postcard beauty is just a facade. A darker reality looms in the shadows. Something has gone terribly wrong with her best friend's life. The Warings are a secretive bunch whose family motto would most certainly be 'blood is thicker than water.' Nothing is what it seems.
