Offers questions and answers about topics including why cats' eyes shine in the dark, why the sky is blue, why peaches are fuzzy, how bees make honey, why soap is slippery, and why some people bring their own bags to the supermarket.

Perseus Publishing
Everyday childhood activities, such as an excursion to the park, splashing in the bathtub, or fixing a snack in the kitchen, can excite many questions in young children. Why is the sky blue? Why does my stomach g-r-r-owl? Why do cows moo? Curious kids want to know, and no adult has all the answers. The tenth anniversary edition of Why? provides child-friendly explanations for nearly 100 of these everyday mysteries for a whole new generation of children. Why? takes young readers inside the kitchen and out to the park, from the farm to the supermarket, and from bathtime to bedtime. Bright, playful illustrations by Scot Ritchie are the perfect complement, setting the scenes for the common questions that children ask.

An excellent resource for those pre-school Einsteins that persist with the word "why". A couple facts for the aging Einsteins as well.

This is an awesome book that has answers to questions that many children have, such as "why is the sky blue?" and "what makes the doors at the grocery store open when people walk in?". Although may readers have felt this book is appropriate for children 8 years and older, if you have a curious child, I recommend reading a few pages a day to them starting at 3 1/2 or 4 years old. My granddaughter loved it!
